Remote First Aid Course

8 a.m.-5 p.m. Get your Red Cross and CPR Certifications in this course, which teaches what to do in the backcountry if you or your riding buddy is injured. The cost is $150 for members and $170 for nonmembers. This is an Anchorage Snowmobile Club sponsored event with instructors from Learn-to-Return Survival School. (anchoragesnowmobile.com)

9 a.m., Eureka Lodge, Mile 128, Glenn Highway, Glennallen. This two-day snowmachine riders workshop is sponsored by AARP Alaska. Join American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education instructors and riders Mike Buck and Kyle Sobek to take your riding to the next level. Women’s Avalanche Level 1 Workshop

Arctic Valley. If you travel in or near avalanche terrain for work or play, this course is for you. Learn how to develop a plan for travel in avalanche terrain. Gain the ability to identify avalanche terrain. Learn to utilize a decision-making framework to reduce risk and methods for companion rescue. The cost is $395. Register at www.alaskasnow.org.
