The Caribou Hills Cabin Hoppers love the military, and to show it they’re bringing back the popular Military Appreciation weekend the first weekend in March.
This year, the club hopes to bring in a dozen service members from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. Last year was the first year of the event, said club president Kathy Lopeman, and it went even better than expected.
“It was fantastic,” she said.
Many of the military members the club brings in for the two-day event had never ridden before, which made the event more fun in a lot of ways, she said.
“They took to it like ducks to water,” she said.
The club plans to take the military members riding in the Caribou Hills on Saturday and Sunday, with lunch and dinner served the first day and breakfast on Sunday before another day of riding.
