Mat-Su Vintage Snowmachine Racers has a new board for the upcoming 2016 season. Donnie Bull will be taking the position of president with Matt Leseman assisting him as vice president. The new board has committed to putting on events and maintaining that MSVSRC is the “Hottest Snowmachine Racing Club in Alaska.”
At the close of the 2015 racing season, they crowned the Vintage Series Point Champions and awarded them all with personalized jackets. They also donated more than 1,000 pounds of nonperishable food items to the Big Lake Food Pantry as well as cash donations.
The club put on numerous racer clinics for new racers, and have added membership to their parent club, Big Lake Aurora Lions Club. It is hosting a six race vintage oval/grand prix ice series in the Valley. It also will host a vintage closed course event and a vintage snowmachine show and shine during the Willow Winter Carnival.
The club plans to put together the fourth annual “Big Rob” 50 Vintage XC and Fun Run in March. The Fun Run is for any sno-go, side-by-side, four-wheeler, golf cart, a true fun run out on the course. The Fun Run is a no-membership required event; anyone can participate. There will be food drives at all the events hosted by MSVSRC.
